Great Ideas to extend the value of your Stampin' Markers!

Out of Action!

Hi There!

As you can see my hand has been out of action for a bit.

It has been 7 weeks now since my carpel tunnel release. My hand and arm are recovering pretty well. It's one of those long slow to heal operations. Not so much the wound but the nerve that has been under pressure, being damaged over many years in my case. About 25 infact. I would probably fit in the category of 'odds are not looking good for a fantastic outcome'. I still can't drive long distances and do not have full strength back, which may never happen. I feel that I have come through this so far pretty well and although there is still some healing to go I think I have been pretty blessed.

My family and extended family were fantastic dropping in to visit, breaking up the boredom of 4 walls, while I was house bound. One of my sons took me to doctors appointments. My boys adjusted my phone so it can be more hands free than it was normally. My other hand is due to be done at the end of this month. If I get myself organised and stamp some images I will at least be able to sit and colour in this time. Watercolour painting might be an option too since I am right handed.

Making the most of your Stampin' Markers

When you are just starting out in a new hobby, no matter what that hobby is, it can be expensive. If you find a tool that has more than one use (like a kitchen knife come flat head spanner here in Australia), then its probably a good one to start with.

I love my markers. They really are versatile. They all come with a fat end and a thin end. Because they are double ended the best way to store them is lying flat rather than upright in a pot.

The Fat End

is more 'brush' like.
Uses for the Fat end include:
  • brushing a bit of ink onto a clear block (acting like a pallet) to paint with, with your Aqua Marker.
  • directly colouring larger areas on your stamped image.
  • Just a quick swipe over the edge of a layer to put a fine hint of colour other than that of the cardstock.

The Thin End

is more like a fine point pen.
Uses for the Thin end include:
  • Handwriting or signing your card
  • marking directly onto the stamped image where you may just want a fine line, dot or stroke.
This video will show you some more uses for your markers to extend their versatility.

Arn't they just so fun and versatile. So much you can do with them. I love mine. If you look after them, they will serve you a very long time and you will slowly over the years add to your collection.

10 reasons to #Sendacard!

I had a couple of people remark to me this week that the card in their mailbox really cheered their day. We love receiving anything that is not a bill in our mailbox. How about making a quick card and pop one in the mail today or tomorrow for someone you know.  We are not all 'wordy' people I know but cards don't have to say much to say a lot, just a Hey There! I thought of you and wanted to say Hello!

I can always think of someone who would love a bit of what I call 'Happy Mail'. Here's a list to get you started:

  1. Grandparent
  2. someone who is sick even if its just a cold
  3. someone who has been a bit down on their luck lately
  4. a friend who is going on a holiday - Bon Voyage!
  5. Birthday
  6. wedding anniversary
  7. To say 'Thanks for being a great friend'
  8. Thanks to someone who has done something for you recently
  9. Your partner - think a 'non-valentines valentine'.
  10. Just because...
